The 6th Annual Nationwide Gwaltney Family Homecoming

We had such a wonderful time July 19-21, 2013 in Smithfield, VA for the 6th Annual Nationwide Gwaltney Family Homecoming. This year we commemorated the 400th birthday of our common ancestor, Thomas Gwaltney (1613-1666) who came to the Virginia colony sometime after April 1635. There were a lot of festivities going on including a get-together on Thursday evening at Bennett Creek Seafood Restaurant for those early-birds into town and a special service at St. Luke's Church on Saturday morning. Since St. Luke's was in existence when Thomas Gwaltney lived in Isle of Wight and Surry counties of Virginia, some of us tried to re-create those times of Thomas Gwaltney by looking the part. Great music, great food, and great fellowship! It is truly a blessing to come home and see our Gwaltney kinfolk!
