Joseph David Gwaltney was born July 22, two days before the Homecoming. Little Joseph didn't make it to the Homecoming, but his father Michael made it for a bit.

The painting depicts the first settlers at Jamestown. It was from Jamestown that Thomas Gwaltney made his way to Surry County, Virginia and the rest is history!
